A 3-mark question usually needs TWO calculations, not one. Do the first one fully before you touch the second.
Finding a far-away term in a pattern is faster with a formula than by counting one by one.
🔑 The nth-term shortcut
If a pattern starts at a and adds the same gap d each time, the value at position n is: a + (n − 1) × d.
Example: 5, 11, 17, 23 … starts at 5 and adds 6 each time. The 10th term is 5 + (10 − 1) × 6 = 5 + 54 = 59.
