Words are like tools in a toolbox 🧰. The more words you own, the easier it is to say exactly what you mean. In this chapter you will collect new words with pictures, fix tricky spellings, catch sneaky homophones and crack funny idioms.
Word Power means knowing lots of words — and knowing exactly which one to use. Learn them in groups (feelings, animals, things at home) and your brain remembers them much faster.

Golden tip: never write only "I was sad". Choose the exact feeling —
disappointed (I expected something better), lonely (nobody was with me),
nervous (something scary is coming). Exact words score marks in the IEO!

A wrong spelling can change the whole meaning! Learn these three easy rules first, then play the spelling game.
Rule 1 · "i" before "e"
"i" before "e", except after "c".
✅ believe, friend, piece
✅ receive, ceiling (after c!)
Rule 2 · Silent letters
Some letters hide and make no sound.
knife, knee, write, lamb, hour, castle, ghost
Rule 3 · Magic "e"
Add "e" and the vowel says its own name.
cap → cape · hop → hope · kit → kite · tap → tape
🧱 The Tricky Word Wall
These words are misspelt most often by Class 5 students. Tap 🔊 and say each one aloud, syllable by syllable.
Memory trick: be-cause = "Big Elephants Can Always Understand Small Elephants" · ne-ces-sa-ry = one Collar, two Sleeves · Wed-nes-day = say it as "Wed-nes-day".
Homophones are word twins 👯. They sound the same but have different spellings and different meanings.
☀️ The sun is hot. ≠ 👦 He is my son.
Same sound. Totally different picture in your head!
An idiom is a phrase that does not mean what the words say! If your friend says "This sum is a piece of cake" 🍰 — there is no cake. It only means "this sum is very easy".
Never translate an idiom word by word. Learn the whole phrase like a picture. 🖼️
