Length, weight, capacity, time and money all have bigger and smaller units — and converting between them is really just multiplying or dividing by 1000, 100 or 60.

These three all use the same pattern: 1000 small units make 1 big unit.

Big to small: multiply by 1000. Small to big: divide by 1000.
Time is different — it uses 60, not 1000. 60 seconds make a minute, and 60 minutes make an hour.
🪜 Finding elapsed time
Money problems are addition, subtraction and change — read the question carefully to see which one is needed.
₹1 = 100 paise. To find change, subtract the cost from the amount paid.
Example: you pay ₹50 for something costing ₹32.50. Change = 50 − 32.50 = ₹17.50.
