An adverb describes a verb, but it can answer five different questions — HOW, WHEN, WHERE, HOW OFTEN, and HOW MUCH. Once you know which question a word answers, you know exactly what kind of adverb it is.

An adverb of manner answers HOW something is done. Most are made by adding -ly to an adjective.

Naughty word: "good" does NOT become "goodly" — its adverb is the completely different word well. "She dances well."
Time adverbs answer WHEN (today, soon, already). Frequency adverbs answer HOW OFTEN (always, usually, sometimes, never).
🔑 Where frequency adverbs go
Frequency adverbs sit before the main verb: "She always arrives early."
But they sit after the verb "to be": "She is always late."
Place adverbs answer WHERE (here, there, outside). Degree adverbs answer HOW MUCH (very, quite, too, almost).
