An analogy is a matching pair. Find the relationship on the left, copy it exactly on the right. AISSEE asks both mathematical and verbal analogies.
A : B :: C : ?
Read it as "A is to B as C is to what?"
Step 1: ask exactly how A became B. Step 2: do the very same thing to C.
Check the relationships in this order — the first one that fits is almost always the answer.
The trap: more than one rule can fit the left pair. In 3 : 9, is the rule "× 3" or "square it"? Look at the options — only one of them will be reachable. And if the third number is far bigger, "square" is usually right.
Turn the letters into numbers, find the jump, then turn back into letters. Keep this strip handy:

Remember only five anchors and hop from the nearest one:
E=5 J=10 O=15 T=20 Y=25
So R? T is 20, R is two before → 18. No counting from A.
Say the relationship out loud in a full sentence. That single habit fixes most mistakes. "A doctor works in a hospital, so a teacher works in a school."
